With the end of grant funding for food for so many charities we are starting a scheme designed to improve the lives and environments of people facing poverty. Initially you'll work alongside our Caseworker, to help find people who may not be able to connect with us digitally and make sure they can get support. You'll work to improve the environments in the areas we work in to engage with local litter picking groups (or start one where these don't exist) and to report fly tipping. For committed volunteers who pass further vetting would like to upskill, we'll be offering training on advocacy, in order to help support our service users through form filling and making calls on their behalf as needed.

Change Programme actions will happen once a fortnight on a Tuesday, after several Tuesday nights spent on outreach. We'll aim to carry out the outreach actions in the lighter hours of summer each year but will continue to check in with service users we've already met through the year as needed.

You will be sent a welcome email after sign up to to book you in for an ID check which is mandatory for volunteering with Help Close By and will be asked to watch an induction video before you can start.
